Over the years, I have perfected my peach cobbler recipe. It is perfect for summer cookouts and the holidays. If you know me, I typically do not cook with recipes. I just add a little bit of this and a little bit of that until it taste right. As more friends began asking for specific recipes, I realized I had to do better. With this recipe, I have done my best to be a bit more specific.
However, before we start baking, I just want to encourage you with one thought…
Sometimes it takes time to get “it” right.
As you encounter different situations in life, you will find that while you are trying your best with the resources you have, things may not turn out as you hoped.
Don’t let the result keep you from trying again.
God is not expecting perfection, He is expecting our full effort and obedience. In time, things will come together. Trust God and keep trying until you get “it”.
Now let’s get started on the peach cobbler!
Here’s what you’ll need.
Directions
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
Let’s work on the peaches! We do not do canned peaches. We want our peaches to make their own syrup. Add the peaches in a pot with ¼ cup of water and bring to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of butter, ½ cup sugar, dark brown sugar, maple syrup, ½ tsp of vanilla, and 1/2 tsp of salt. Gently squeeze a little lemon juice into the peaches. Add a little nutmeg and cinnamon to taste. Stir until all of the ingredients are dissolved. Let it boil then reduce the heat and let it rest.
Place remaining butter in 8×8 baking pan in the oven as it heats.
Now let’s work on the crust (the best part)! Grab a mixing bowl and add flour and a little less than one cup of sugar. Mix the dry ingredients including baking powder, remaining salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon to taste. Slowly add and mix in the milk and remaining vanilla. Allow the crust mixture to sit for moment. It should become creamy and foamy.

Your butter should be melted by now so take that out the oven. Pour you crust mixture on top of the melted butter. DO NOT STIR. Then on top of that pour your peaches and syrup on top of that. Again, do not stir.
Place in the oven for 30 minutes until golden brown and your house smells like love.
Tip: You can check to make sure it’s done by sticking a metal fork or knife in it and seeing if it’s clean. 😊
Give it a try and let me know what you think. Don’t forget to share with a friend!
