As we near the end of the year, there are many unfinished tasks. What if I told you I have been working on this post since December 18, 2018? Well, I have and after nearly a year I am determined to finish it.
Some of you are like me. You’ve got some unfinished business.
It’s time to finish what you’ve started.
Most of us start with excitement, but overtime that excitement fades and the once fun task becomes worrisome. We complain that “it” involves too much time, too much effort, and too many resources. It just becomes too much!
Many of us want to elevate to the next level knowing we have not done what is required of us.
Friends, you do not credit for assignments you do not complete. We should aspire to finish every assignment. Especially, the ones God sets before us. Can I tell you a secret?
You are capable of successfully completing EVERY assignment God has set before you. Let’s walk through what you need in this season.
Willingness
Take a moment and assess your heart. Are you willing to do what God has asked you to do? Are you cheerfully consenting and ready? Or do you find yourself hesitating? God is disinterested in apathetic obedience.
Want to present an acceptable gift to God? Have a willing heart.
“And here is my judgment about what is best for you in this matter. Last year you were the first not only to give but also to have the desire to do so. Now finish the work, so that your eager willingness to do it may be matched by your completion of it, according to your means. For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have.”
2 Corinthians 8:10-12 NIV
If you know you are struggling with willingness, stop here and repent. Ask the Father to help you. Ask Him to soften your heart to His will so that you will go where He wants you to go and do what He wants you to do with a cheerful heart.
Faith
Ask the Father to give you the faith you need to endure when obstacles arise in your heart and mind.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
2 Timothy 4:7 NIV
Ability
Sometimes we have the willingness and faith, but we lack the resources or ability. Good news! We have a Father who owns a cattle on a thousand hills. His resources are infinite. His kindness is immeasurable. Now that we know that, it’s time for you to plan accordingly. Assess what you need to complete the assignment. Work to equip yourself and ask Him to direct your paths in ALL things.
We want to be builders who complete the work.
“Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it? For if you lay the foundation and are not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule you, saying, ‘This person began to build and wasn’t able to finish.’”
Luke 14:28-30 NIV
A Heart like Jesus
Finally, ask the Father to give you a like Jesus, who’s sole desire in life was to do the will of the Father and FINISH His work in the earth. May that be your heart’s cry in every season of life.
“My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.”
John 4:34 NIV
Encouragement
Today commit to focus and complete your tasks. God doesn’t half do His job and neither should you. Focus and finish. With His help…You. Can. Do. This.
“being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 1:6 NIV
Big hugs,
Ayanna
This was so right on time for me. In my quiet time this morning I was reflecting on the goals and the things I have left undone in 2019. This was just the encouragement and the push I needed to walk into 2020.
Hi Ayanna! I’m so glad it blessed you! I am confident you will accomplish every goal set before you 😊
